This work is inspired by the process of the growth of mold and various plants and mushrooms, and how fungus expands and becomes more complex as time goes on. The complexities of the form are further explored with the use of glazes, which work with each other to crackle and expand, creating a visual texture. The forms were made with the intention of separation and reorganization, stacked onto or nestled into one another.
STILL LIFE: Absences

"Absences" is a still life of objects that might be seen as taken for granted. Each object has a non-ceramic finish: the flashlight with a Cayenne pepper, Turmeric, mod podge, black pepper, nail polish, and mirror paper; the doorknob with gold powder; and the digital phone with nail polish and glue.
